Twit or not to twit?

Everyone has been raving about twitter, especially the online marketers, that includes those in the IM niches and quite a number of professional bloggers.

Before you get caught on to the tweet fever, take a step back and THINK.

Thinking is the hardest work there is, that’s why hardly anyone does it.

Twitter might be the next BIG thing to hit the Internet, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to jump on the bandwagon and start twitting.

Before you even get started, have a plan in mind on what you hope to achieve. If you’re planning to tweet for fun, then just do it. You don’t need a plan. If you intend to tweet because someone told you that it’s good for business, then you’ll need to seriously sit down and think about your game plan.

If you’re tweeting aimlessly, you’d be better off not twitting at all. In fact it could be detrimental to your business because it’ll be another form of distraction for you, a distraction from doing what’s really productive and important.

However, if you’ve really gave it some serious thoughts, and you think that twitter could help you build relationship with your visitors and customers alike, then by all means go ahead.

As for me, I have not figured out how to use twitter to help me in my business, and I’m not good enough at twittering to build relationship, so I’ll just have to give it a miss at least for now.
