When 1Malaysia Was Not A Cliche

by admin on September 10, 2009

Once a upon a time, when I was growing up, I studied at a Methodist school. Although the medium of instruction was in BM, all of us in the school spoke English, BM, Cantonese and what not.

I had friends who were Indians, who were Malay, and various other races.

I use to frequent a friend’s house who was an Indian, and whose mum was as friendly as can anyone be.

I use to sit with 2 Malay friends, and learnt to speak BM better.

I use to ‘lepak’ at my neighbour’s house, who was a Eurasian.

And guess what?

At that time, I didn’t know what Eurasian was, what Indian was, and what Malay was. All I know is, they are just like me, fellow human being. They were my friends. They were people I played with, people I spent my time with.

There was NO 1Malaysia, there was no need for that!

But when I grew up, I learnt that the colour of your skin do determine how people look at you, what you can do, and what you can’t do.

And now, almost every politicians can’t open their freaking mouth without the mere mention of race or religion.

And our dear PM is either playing us by the balls, or being naive, by selling us the concept of 1Malaysia.

If you’re really sincere in promoting 1Malaysia, then stop selling me that bullshit. For starters, tell your bloody political goons (BN and PR alike) to stop talking about race or religion. If anyone ever mention the word, fine them a hundred thousand ringgit.

Next, stop promoting or segregating the students and just let them enjoy their childhood as JUST MALAYSIANS. They are naive enough to like everyone regardless of skin colour. You only make it worse by telling them they are different.

I’m sure our dear PM is smart enough to know that. What’s being done by all these people are just plain selfish, and sinful.
