Yasmin Ahmad – The Prime Minister I Wished We Had

Yasmin-Ahmad

When news of Yasmin Ahmad’s passing spread, I could hardly believe it. How come someone at the peak of her age and career, be taken away so suddenly?

I only ‘know’ of Yasmin through her films and having only watched 2, which were:

I can’t say I know her that well ;-)

But the essence of those 2 films, coupled with her ‘muhibbah’ TV ads, convinced me that she would have made a better prime minister than what we already have had or will have in the near future.

Yes, she might not be the suave sweet talking politician that most of the current crops are, she might not be as economically savvy as some of those economic grads are, but what she lacked in these department, she more than make up for it in terms of compassion, sincerity, and loyalty.

Compassion for all Malaysians, sincerity in making Malaysia a truly global nation, and loyalty to Malaysia! These alone can move mountains.

Her essence of a truly united Malaysia is poignantly shown in her films. You’ll feel it when you watch her films.

Compare this with the current crop of politicians (the Coalition as well as the Opposition) and you’ll notice a glaring fact, more often than not, their speeches are laced with mention of races.

If given a choice, would you have voted Yasmin as your Prime Minister? Let me know what you think…

PS: Yasmin, may your soul Rest In Peace
