If you’ve been planning to start a blog, you have plenty of options out there in terms of which blogging platform to use. Each of them have their own features.
Blogspot, the blogging platform from Google, is one of the most common platform for people who are new and would like to get started. One of its biggest benefit is the fact that the web based blogging account requires minimal technical knowledge to setup and get going.
Unlike some of the other free web based blogging platforms, blogspot allows you to use it for commercial reason, i.e. you can place advertisements on it.
There are also no limitations as to the disk space, bandwidth, etc.
However, one downside to it is that since your blog is hosted on blogspots server, if they ever decide to shut down your blog, they can do so. In fact, it sometimes have accidentally closed some blogs deemed spammy, although it is not. That’s because these automated filtering system are not perfect and sometimes something in your blog might just trigger it.]
Although some might argue that you can have your own domain, and still use blogspot to post publish to your own domain, the fact is, if your account get closed, while you still have your old post there, you won’t be able to continue posting to it anymore unless you create another new account. But then it won’t be integrated to your previous blog posts.
As far as I’m concerned, I would rather have full control over my blog and my business. That’s why I rarely use them.
Unlike Blogspot, LiveJournal’s free blogging account has quite a bit of limitation. If you want more flexibility, more control and bigger storage, you’ll have to upgrade to the paid premium account.
It’s simple to get started, and it’s being supported by some pretty hard core users. So you’re bound to get plenty of helpful advise.
Wordpress have a free web based blogging service whereby you can create your own blog there. However, you’re not allowed to use that for commercial reasons. If you were to place any ads there, your blog will by shut down.
Alternatively, if you want to install Wordpress on your own domain, you can do so by downloading it here. Another way to install Wordpress is through Fantastico in your cpanel. That’s one of the easiest way to install.
With the self hosted wordpress blog, you have in your hand, a very powerful blogging platform. There are a lot of themes and plugins available which will let you do practically anything you want on your blog!
Personally I use Wordpress. No second doubt about it.
