Matt Cutts vs Shoemoney

by admin on August 22, 2009

Seems Matt Cutts and Shoemoney (SM) is in a public spat now because Matt unfollowed Shoemoney on Twitter just because he had a sponsored tweet. Check this out here!

But in the first place, what’s the big deal if Matt publicly announced his ‘unfollow’? It wasn’t personal, he wasn’t belittling SM.

Seems SM is pretty miffed that Matt announced it publicly.

Personally I don’t think it’s really a big deal UNLESS if Matt actually made it personal and went on an attack. His unfollow was just a matter of preference.

What say you?

Does Size Matters On Twitter?

by admin on August 22, 2009

small-big

It seems that a lot of marketers are fixated with size.

BUZZ!

Get back here. Not the size that you’re thinking about, ok. Concentrate!

We’re talking about the size of their twitter followers, etc.

Can you imagine there are software out there that helps you build your twitter follower list?

There are also services out there which hook up tweeps who follow back those who follow them.

The problem is, what good are these followers if none of them ever read or respond to your tweets?

Yes, having a huge following does provide some sort of social proof, but does it really yield the results that you want? For the amount of time that you spend on building your followers using these manipulative methods, do you receive results that commensurate your efforts?

Maybe for the top few marketers, yes. But for the rest of the wannabes, or rather the majority of those who are doing it, it doesn’t really pay off.

I’ve seen countless times, newbie marketers and friends alike who jump on the bandwagon, only to waste time and effort.

You should focus your effort on your strength. If your strength is on generating traffic via PPC, then milk everything you can from it.

If your strength is on SEO, then milk it all you’ve got.

It’s better to spend 90% of your time on your main traffic method as opposed to spreading your effort over multiple traffic sources.

Before you get caught on to the tweet fever, take a step back and THINK.
Thinking is the hardest work there is, that’s why hardly anyone does it.
